1919 Born in Kamloops
1930-1934 Education at Shawnigan Lake Girl's School. Art instructor for those years was Lowrie Warrener, who would paint with the Group of Seven
1935 Sonia sells first painting, continues studies in set design
1939

Sonia's father dies. Sonia abandons art studies to become a cattle rancher full time

1946 A.Y. Jackson is a guest at the Onward Ranch: he encourages Sonia to resume her art studies
 

Sonia and sister Dru move to Calgary to study art at the Provincial Institute of Technology

1947 Sonia marries Hugh Cornwall from Ashcroft who encourages her to paint
1950 BC Artists 19th Annual Exhibition Vancouver Art Gallery, Lauren Harris was chair of the selection jury. Sonia exhibited an oil painting titled "Ranch Buildings"
1954 A culmination of critiques and advise by her mentor A.Y.Jackson Sonia's "Salmon Fishers" is exhibited in a juried show at Art Gallery of Hamilton
1960-1974 Sonia has annual "One Woman Shows" through Allied Arts Group, Williams Lake
 

1965 Sonia and family move to the newly built house at Jones Lake

Sonia takes several UBC Extension Workshops lead by: Herbert Siebner, Molly Bobeck, Peter Aspell, Jack Hardman, Zelko Kujundzic, Cliff Robinson and Jim Willer
